Ah! I am behind with updating this blog! It turns out I am a terrible blogger! But – “it can only get better!” Right?
Today, let’s tell you something very personal about this image here – the hut. I was walking around in the snow when I suddenly saw this image. OMG. It was such a beautiful site. It was very early in the morning still, the sun just rose maybe 30 mins ago (hence the shadow and the blue tones!) and it was all quiet. So very quiet. All sounds muffled by the snow. I saw this “hut image” and almost dropped my camera. It was the pure beauty of this whole scene which blew me away. Imagine this quiet morning, 100 percent stillness, just the crunchy sound you get when you walk on frozen snow. “Crunch, crunch, crunch, crunch, crunch”. And then, all of a sudden, WOOAAAHHH, you see an image like this! Completley unexpected. I swear, it made me cry. I stood there, all alone, and tears ran down my face. I was utterly owerwhelmed.

So all I had to do is lift up the camera and snap the shot. It was not very difficult to do. Just stand there in awe and shoot. And I have to say, this image – the hut – is one of my all time favourites so far.

So. My photoblog seems to be stable again – no more hacking lately. So thank you all you hackers out there for skipping it next time you come around. You are not welcome!

Well, to leave this subject behind and plough forward now: “I can assure you I am not a skier at all. Zero. But I think if I had been that particular guy in the image,  I would have enjoyed the ride loads.” He really almost has the whole world to himself, does he not! Maybe I should give it another try…. I will check my accident insurance first and make sure I paid the rate for this year…

I had a bit of a shock today.

My photoblog got hacked! All was gone! The whole work from the last six (6!) years – gone! All I could see when I typed in www.ferntree.ch was “You don’t have access”. “What the f…?” “Of course I have access! This is my very own website dammit!”After some sweat and tears and lots of head scratching, I could get hold of my host (he apparently also works on Sundays!).

My host is a good host. He had a backup ready and reinstalled everything within 10 minutes! I love him from the bottom of my heart.

Now I am too exhausted to talk about todays image. Let me know if you have a question!

Second things second: “Well, I was up in the mountains this weekend. Really wanted to find some good winter images. But it just did not happen I am afraid. It was too foggy for one thing. That is the tricky part while trying to be a  nature photographer. Sometimes one can just not find images out there. I did go for a rather long hike, carried my heavy equipment, even took my new tripod with me. A tripod which is not actually a tripod for he has got only one leg, so what is he really? A onepod?

Anyway, the walk in the cold air was very nice, but I came back with not even one lousy shot. Zero. Null.

So, since I will not be in the mountains within the next few days, I have to get a little creative and maybe try an indoor shot! Let’s see with what I come up.

OK, here we have today’s post.

Lets talk about it then, for, this is a text blog, so we need to talk, right?
Well, I often find it rather difficult to take images in the snow. “Why?” Well, for one thing, the light is just almost never right because the white fluffy wonderful stuff is just too bright when the sun shines into it. I know, there are these tricks with 2 stops more exposure to compensate and all this. But the really difficult part with taking pictures in the snow is that my fingers get so cold… I remember once, when I was standing on a spot with my camera and tripod, waiting for the right light to take an image of this chalet in the snow… hang on, I can find you the link here if you like [cosy hut],

- “yes, I know, nobody reads this blog, so why bothering with putting up links to the stuff I am talking about… but let me pretend, I am having fun here” -

anyway, where was I, ah yes, my fingers did hurt so much, I had to give up after a while and go home. So yes, so much trouble to go through, heh!

I was stunned to see that “this blog” has already got a follower! – After just one day of its existence! [Oh and, on a little private side-note, it is BLOG, not BLOB.] Only there is an issue with this follower. It is myself. I punched in my own email address!

How pathetic is that!!

Anyway, actually, the purpose of “this blog” might be to write a bit of background to the images I post over there on www.ferntree.ch.

.. But, hmm, it has been a rather miserable day today [weather wise and mood wise], so I am afraid there is no new image today to talk about. So it will just be this pathetic little text!

“Why not starting a brand new blog in the brand new year?” I was aksing myself.

“No! – Not a.n.o.t.h.e.r blog, please!” You might think.

“But heh, if I don’t start it today, I have to wait another 364 days.” And that is a good reason to start.

And the chances that anyone out there finds and – let alone – reads, and – OMG – follows this blog, is tiny, right?!
So, please don’t role your eyes about my new blog.  Because, nobody will ever read it anyway. And it will not take up much space in the web, will it!?

I just thought it might be nice to add a little something to my photoblog, how shall I say, to “pimp” it a bit I guess!
